Protest against Sunny Leone dance programme in Puducherry

Puducherry: Tension prevailed as the Tamizhar Kalam volunteers and social organizations on Thursday took out a procession to the old port complex opposing the dance programme of Sunny Leone which was scheduled to be held here on Friday night.   Opposing the programme, the volunteers took out the procession with posters not to hold the 'obscene' dance of Sunny Leone which will spoil the fame and culture of Puducherry.   They asked on whether New year celebrations is necessary when Covid and Omicron variant were threatening the society.   As they reached the entrance of the venue, police blocked them with barricades and the volunteers had an altercation with the police.   Later, police removed the protesters.   It is not immediately known whether Sunny Leone will take part in the dance programme or not. Dwayne Johnson declines Vin Diesel's invite to join 'Fast & Furious 10'

Los Angeles: Dwayne Johnson has publicly declined “Fast & Furious” series star Vin Diesel’s request to rejoin the action franchise for its upcoming 10th mainline entry.   In November, Diesel extended an invitation to Johnson on Instagram, imploring Johnson to reprise his role as secret agent Lucas Hobbs for the next entry in the series.   “The world awaits the finale of ‘Fast 10,’” Diesel wrote. “As you know, my children refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. 'Wolverine' Hugh Jackman tests positive for COVID, 'The Music Man' cancels shows

New York: “The Music Man”, one of the hottest tickets on Broadway, has cancelled performances through January 1 after star Hugh Jackman tested positive for the coronavirus.   The revival of Meredith Willson’s classic musical is struggling to keep its cast and crew healthy at a time when COVID is surging and Omicron is causing breakthrough infections and contributing to record cases in New York City.   Sutton Foster, Jackman’s co-star, was forced to miss several performances after coming down with the virus. Superstar Salman Khan suffers snake bite at his farm house

Pune: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was on Sunday bitten by a snake at his farmhouse in Panvel city near Mumbai. The incident took place early morning when the actor was sitting in the lawn, casually talking to his friends. Suddenly, he complained of severe leg pain hence he was rushed to a hospital where he was admitted for seven hours. Presently, his condition is said to be stable as the reptile was non-venomous, sources said, adding that he was recuperating at his Bandra residence in Mumbai. 'The Kashmir Files' gets house-full reception across US in pre-release screenings

New Delhi: Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s “The Kashmir Files” has been witnessing full houses in the pre-release screenings across the US, organised by the Global Kashmir Pandit Diaspora. The film, set to be released on January 26, 2022, is based on the “true events which took place with the first generation victims of the Kashmir Genocide”, according to a film blurb. “The Kashmir Files” throws light on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s from the Kashmir valley due to rising militancy. Writer-director Agnihotri has been travelling across the US along with producer Pallavi Joshi to promote the film at the exclusive pre-release screenings, which have the hashtag #RightToJusticeTour. Panama Paper leak case: ED summons Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

New Delhi: Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on Monday afternoon reached the Enforcement Directorate office at the Jamnagar House here after she was summoned in connection with hoarded money as revealed by the Panama Papers.   ED officials are to question the actor, who was issued a notice to join the probe.   The sources said that earlier she had sought time on two occasions to join the investigation. It is learnt that the actor had filed a plea for an adjournment before the multi-agency special investigation team.   The Panama Papers are 11.5 million leaked documents that were published in 2016 detailing financial and attorney-client information for 214,488 offshore entities.   The Bachchan family has been issued notices to explain their involvement in foreign remittances since 2004.
