Working with S.S. Rajamouli "required my full surrender to his vision," says RRR villain Edward Sonnenblick.
After a successful career of a decade and a half in Bollywood, American actor Edward Sonnenblick is now poised to take things to the next level with his latest, S.S. Rajamouli’s magnum opus, RRR. I’ve always strived to keep raising the bar,” says Edward. "And now, working under a director like Rajamouli Sir, acting alongside India’s biggest superstars, with the biggest international release ever...it's definitely a whole new level!"
When asked at RRR’s star-studded Mumbai launch event, what it was like to work with the maestro, S.S. Rajamouli, Edward shared, “Working with Rajamouli Sir opened me up to a whole new side of my craft. He is so incredibly detail-oriented that that it required my full surrender to his vision and direction, right down to every twitch and tilt of the head.
It’s true that he’s a relentless perfectionist, but at the same time he’s so incredibly patient and down-to-earth. That’s the magical combination that inspired me to hone my craft more than ever.”
As for his role in RRR, Edward explains he can’t reveal much at this point, “However, I can tell you that I play the villain as a British colonial official, and I can’t wait to share this one with the audience.”
That’s saying a lot considering Edward has nailed more than his share of filmi villain roles already, for major productions like Manikarnika, Kesari, Bose Dead/Alive, Firangi and more. Currently he’s wrapping a major character role for Vikramaditya Motwane’s webseries, Stardust, and has wrapped up 2 Yash Raj films to be released this year.
