New Delhi: Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s “The Kashmir Files” has been witnessing full houses in the pre-release screenings across the US, organised by the Global Kashmir Pandit Diaspora.
The film, set to be released on January 26, 2022, is based on the “true events which took place with the first generation victims of the Kashmir Genocide”, according to a film blurb.
“The Kashmir Files” throws light on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s from the Kashmir valley due to rising militancy.
Writer-director Agnihotri has been travelling across the US along with producer Pallavi Joshi to promote the film at the exclusive pre-release screenings, which have the hashtag #RightToJusticeTour.
He has been receiving praises on social media from those who have watched the film in the US.
In a tweet, he said: “#TheKashmirFiles is not my film anymore. It’s a people’s film. It’s going to be interesting to watch how it plays out since the actors are already working in the background.”
The film has Mithun Chakraborty essay the role of Retd. Divisional Commissioner, J&K, Brahma Dutt; Darshan Kumaar, play the role of President, Student Union, Krishna Pandit; Pallavi Joshi play the role of Professor Radhika Menon; and Chinmay Mandlekar essay the role of Area Commander Farooq Malik ‘Bitta’, besides Anupam Kher and Puneet Issar in key roles.
It is produced by Zee Studios and Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi.
