Jaipur/ Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav on Thursday announced of making the popular film 'The Sabarmati Report' tax-free in the state while Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma ordered to reimburse the State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) on film tickets in the state.

The Hindi film 'The Sabarmati Report', directed by Dheeraj Sarna, will be reimbursed equivalent amounts of State Goods and Services Tax for its exhibition period from November 21 to December 20.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday hailed the movie "The Sabarmati Report" based on the Godhara fire, saying "truth is coming out."

Modi posted on his social media account X, "Well said. It is good that this truth is coming out, and that too in a way common people can see it. A fake narrative can persist only for a limited period of time. Eventually, the facts will always come out!".

The film delves into the controversial 2002 Godhra train tragedy involving the Sabarmati Express and its aftermath.

The movie stars Vikrant Massey, Raashii Khanna, and Riddhi Dogra. The film was released on November 15.

CM Yadav, along with his cabinet colleagues and BJP officials, on Wednesday watched the film.

''He said that this film brings to light the dark chapter of history. This film brings out the truth of the incident that took place in Godhra, Gujarat in the year 2002. The film is based on real facts,'' Mohan Yadav said.

The film is based on the true incident of the burning of a train in Godhra on February 27, 2002, which caused the death of 58 Hindu pilgrims and karsevaks returning from Ayodhya.

MP BJP state president Vishnudatta Sharma praised Chief Minister Yadav for making the film tax-free during a recent event.
