Kannada filmmaker, actor Guruprasad found dead in his apartment, police suspect suicide

Bengaluru: Kannada filmmaker and actor Guruprasad was found dead in his apartment in Bengaluru on Sunday morning.
 

He was 52 years old.
 

Local police, responding to a distress call, discovered his body in his residence in the early hours.
 

While an investigation is underway, preliminary reports suggest that it may have been a suicide, though the exact cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
 

Guruprasad was a respected figure in Kannada cinema, celebrated for his unconventional storytelling and unique perspective on contemporary social issues.
 

Known for films like Mata and Eddelu Manjunatha, he garnered acclaim and a loyal following. His work often delved into the complexities of urban life, resonating with audiences for its realism and depth.
 

As news of his death spread, fans and colleagues from the film industry expressed their shock and sorrow.
 

Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar posted a heartfelt message on social media, extending condolences to Guruprasad's family and reflecting on his contribution to cinema.


 

The police have requested privacy for the family and assured a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his passing.

Accused in firing outside Salman Khan's house case wants to turn approver

Mumbai: A person facing MCOCA charges in connection with the firing outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's residence in Bandra suburbs here has expressed his desire to turn approver in the case, sources in the Mumbai Crime Branch said.   Without disclosing the identity of the accused, the sources said that one of those arrested in the April 14 shooting case and facing charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) has express his desire to be an approver and necessary procedure prescribed under the law has been set into motion.   As per procedure, the probe agency will first record the accused's confession before a high ranking officer not part of the ongoing investigation, and later the same will be recorded before a magistrate, the sources added.   The confessional statement will be the part of evidence and it will be used against him as well as other accused facing charges, they said.   On Monday, three accused arrested in the case were sent
