London: For the seventh time in nine years Ed Sheeran has topped the list of music used across UK radio, TV and in public places.

 

Sheeran, 33, took the most played spot in the chart compiled by the music licensing company PPL.

 

Taylor Swift, currently on her Eras tour in the UK, jumped from 10th slot to second in the 2023 chart, matching her previous high in 2015, the Guardian reported.

 

Sheeran said: “Thank you for naming me the most played artist for last year. Thank you to my team, not just for me, but for all the other artists you work with – I’m happy that you get this recognition.”

 

British-Albanian singer Dua Lipa, whose hit "Dance the Night" featured in the 2023 "Barbie" film, is third, followed by Scottish DJ and record producer Calvin Harris, whose songs include "We Found Love" with Rihanna, and "Miracle" with Ellie Goulding.

 

French DJ David Guetta is fifth place, ahead of Sir Elton John.

 

The only band in the top 10 is Coldplay at number seven, while Harry Styles is at number nine, Madonna, takes the final place in the top 10.

 

When it came to the most played song, Sheeran's "Eyes Closed" is second to Miley Cyrus’s hit "Flowers" and "Anti-Hero" by Swift is fourth.

 

While "Dance the Night", "Miracle" and Pink's Trustfall are fifth, sixth and seventh. Waffle House by Jonas Brothers, and Cruel Summer by Swift come eighth and ninth. Niall Horan’s Heaven is placed 10th.

Accused in firing outside Salman Khan's house case wants to turn approver

Mumbai: A person facing MCOCA charges in connection with the firing outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's residence in Bandra suburbs here has expressed his desire to turn approver in the case, sources in the Mumbai Crime Branch said.   Without disclosing the identity of the accused, the sources said that one of those arrested in the April 14 shooting case and facing charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) has express his desire to be an approver and necessary procedure prescribed under the law has been set into motion.   As per procedure, the probe agency will first record the accused's confession before a high ranking officer not part of the ongoing investigation, and later the same will be recorded before a magistrate, the sources added.   The confessional statement will be the part of evidence and it will be used against him as well as other accused facing charges, they said.   On Monday, three accused arrested in the case were sent
