Mithun Chakraborty discharged from hospital, reveals PM Modi rebuked him for not taking care of health
Kolkata: Actor and politician Mithun Chakraborty on Monday was discharged from a private hospital where he was admitted two days back after suffering a mild " Ischemic Cerebrovascular Stroke" while shooting a movie.
"I am fine, I am fine and 100 percent fit," the 73-year-old matinee idol wearing a white chaddar and woolen cap on the head, told reporters outside the Apollo Hospital on EM by pass in the city. The veteran actor was rushed to the hospital's emergency unit on Saturday morning after feeling unwell while shooting a motion picture in the city.
The BJP leader claimed his sickness was due to over eating, which caused his blood sugar level to shoot up. "Please avoid overeating and insulin is the best for a diabetic person," Chakraborty told the reporters as hundreds of fans gathered for a glimpse of the actor, who has pulled of with equal finesse both commercial and arthouse movies during his long career.
Chakraborty said Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked to him on the phone and rebuked him for not taking care of his health. He said his shooting (movie) would resume on February 19. "I could have joined the shooting from tomorrow but other co-stars have given new dates from February 19 onwards," he said.
Answering political questions, Chakraborty said he would not contest election and only campaign for the saffron party.
"It is time for the people to rise and what is happening in Bengal is not acceptable," Chakraborty said.
A host of people like BCCI's former President Sourav Ganguly, BJP leaders Sukanta Majumdar, Suvendu Adhikari, TMC MP cum top Bengali film actor Dev, TMC MLA and actor Soham Chakraborty, Deboshree Roy visited the hospital to see Chakraborty.
Speaking to the entertainment portal Bollywood Hungama, Chakraborty's son Mimoh shared, "Dad is hundred percent fine. He was admitted to the hospital for a routine sugar-level check- up. He is super-fine now and he is being discharged from hospital today."
