Mumbai: In a dramatic turn of events, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has sought a court stay on the release of a docuseries titled 'The Indrani Mukerjea Story: The Buried Truth' on Netflix.
The series delves into the mysterious disappearance and murder of Sheena Bora, with Indrani Mukerjea as the prime accused.
The CBI, concerned about the ongoing trial, has requested the court to halt the featuring of accused individuals in the documentary until the trial concludes.
Responding to the CBI's plea, the special judge, S. P. Naik-Nimbalkar, has issued notices to Netflix Entertainment Services India and other parties involved, scheduling a hearing for February 20, 2024.
The court's decision on whether to grant the stay or allow the release of the documentary series will unfold in the upcoming legal showdown.
The unfolding drama adds another layer to the complex narrative surrounding the infamous Sheena Bora murder case, leaving audiences on the edge of their seats, awaiting both justice and the documentary's fate.
"On request and submission of the prosecution, for hearing of the application, issue notices to Netflix Entertainment Services India as well as to other persons mentioned in the plea of the prosecution. Considering the exigency, the hearing of the application is fixed for February 20, 2024, at 2.45 pm," Naik-Nimbalkar said.
