Sonali Phogat death: Goa club owner, drug dealer arrested

Panaji: Goa police has arrested one more person in connection with the Sonali Phogat murder case, taking the number of persons arrested so far to five.
 

Drug peddler Rama alias Ramadas Mandrekar was arrested on Saturday night for allegedly supplying drugs to Dattaprasad Gaonkar, who was arrested earlier, a senior police official said.
 
Those who have been arrested till date are Sudhir Sagwan, Sukhwinder Wasi, Edwin Nunes, Dattaprasad Gaonkar and Ramadas Mandrekar.
 
BJP leader and actor Sonali, who hailed from Hisar in Haryana, was brought dead to a private hospital in Anjuna on August 23. Though initially it was reported that Sonali had died of heart attack but the postmortem conducted later revealed that there were multiple blunt injuries on her body.

Meanwhile, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday said, if required, the case would be handed over to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
 
He said Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had spoken to him and requested that the case be given to the CBI. "I don't have issue with it. After all the formalities, if required, will give the case to the CBI," Dr Sawant said. (UNI)

Accused in firing outside Salman Khan's house case wants to turn approver

Mumbai: A person facing MCOCA charges in connection with the firing outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's residence in Bandra suburbs here has expressed his desire to turn approver in the case, sources in the Mumbai Crime Branch said.   Without disclosing the identity of the accused, the sources said that one of those arrested in the April 14 shooting case and facing charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) has express his desire to be an approver and necessary procedure prescribed under the law has been set into motion.   As per procedure, the probe agency will first record the accused's confession before a high ranking officer not part of the ongoing investigation, and later the same will be recorded before a magistrate, the sources added.   The confessional statement will be the part of evidence and it will be used against him as well as other accused facing charges, they said.   On Monday, three accused arrested in the case were sent
