VIDEO: 'Laal Singh Chaddha' official trailer drops, evokes mixed response

Mumbai: The trailer for Aamir Khan’s much awaited “Laal Singh Chaddha” is finally out, with the trailer being released during the Indian Premier League 2022 final in the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

The trailer sports great production value and impressive lighting and VFX though unlike what the producers might have expected.

However, the trailer has not gone down too well with the audience, receiving mixed responses, with some absolutely baffled by its stunning look and the thrill packed ride and some dismissing it outright as a copy of Tom Hank’s 90s classic “Forrest Gump” and a flop in the making.

Inspired by 'Forrest Gump', the story of 'Laal Singh Chaddha' follows the life of a specially abled Lal Singh Chadda and how he navigates through his life’s various adventures and perseveres through all his troubles, from struggling in school and personal life, joining the army and fighting in what appears to be the 1999 Kargil War, to running through the mountainous terrains of Ladakh.

The movie has been beautifully shot presenting not just an aesthetically brilliant scenario, shot at multitude of picturesque locations in India, but it also shows and exhibits a face of Indian culture, traditions and heritage in a serene and tranquil form.

But the many gross similarities to Forrest Gump has displeased many despite the great production as many shots are outright rip offs of scenes from 'Forrest Gump' which are merely done in a different location by different actors in a different language (Hindi and Punjabi).

Aamir Khan Productions tweeted the trailer on their official twitter handle and wrote “Experience the extraordinary journey of #LaalSinghChaddha, a simple man whose heart is filled with love, hope and warmth. #LaalSinghChaddhaTrailer out now! Releasing in cinemas worldwide on 11th Aug.”

The movie’s song “Kahaani” which had been released earlier by the film makers had peaked the interest of the audience as the track which was composed by Pritam and lyrically penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya had garnered positive reception. The movie is directed by Advait Chandan, known for his hit film “Secret Superstar”, and stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh, Naga Chaitanya, Negar Khan, and will release on August 11 this year.
