Hyderabad: In a move towards sustainability, the art direction team of the blockbuster Kannada film, KGF 2, used the revolutionary and innovative product EcoWal, made out of fire-rated Ecoboard material by EcoYou, for the walls of a prominent set in the film, the Parliament scene.
EcoYou, a Pune-based brand offers a range of building materials made out of agricultural waste to replace wood, metal and concrete, thereby reducing the carbon footprint associated with their use.
The agro fibres that would otherwise have been burned also help farmers earn an extra income, a statement here said on Sunday.
“I was aware of this material and the fact that it is eco-friendly. What was more attractive for us though was the fact that it was economical as well. I was highly impressed with the vintage wood-like finish this material was able to give us while being eco friendly and cost-effective. I will definitely be using it in future sets as well”, says Telaprolu Srinivasrao, art director of KGF 2, Bahubali, and other renowned South Indian films.
Shot in the famous Ramoji film city, the iconic parliament scene from the just released, KGF 2, was made to come alive with the use of EcoYou's technologically advanced agro-based boards that have a high bending strength and are fire compliant as per European standards.
“We're thrilled to have been a part of this extremely prestigious and successful film and are extremely thankful to the KGF 2 team for having considered our sustainable solutions. By using our EcoWal boards instead of wood, they have saved around 100 fully grown trees from being cut down,” says GPK Raju, director of Ecoboard Industries Limited.
Incidentally, prior to EcoYou purchasing the agro waste from farmers, burning of this waste was the only solution the farmers had. Apart from preventing almost 20 tons of CO2 from being released through burning, EcoYou has also helped farmers make an additional income of Rs 3000 per ton.
Ecoboard Industries Ltd has been around for 30 years and has been developing innovative solutions in keeping with environmental sustainability goals.
Innovations like theirs will pave the way for the greening of various film sets in the future, the statement added. (UNI)
