Los Angeles: Audiences have been eagerly gearing for the latest Matt Reeves adaptation of “The Batman”.
The neo noir superhero film has already been tugging at the heartstrings of fans since 2020 when it got delayed due to Covid-19, and now Matt Reeves has confirmed "The Batman" will have a sequel with a number of different iterations connected to this version of the character already announced.
However, how it will fit within the framework of the whole DCEU is unknown as this Batman is set to star in a different continuity than the Snyder Verse.
Fans can also expect more than just a sequel as they will also be getting treated to a show about the Gotham Police Department and the crime lord Oswald Cobblepot which is The Penguin and will be set a year prior to the events of the film.
The Batman explores Bruce Wayne's growth as Gotham City's Dark Knight, as in this version Bruce Wayne is mentally a bit broken.
As Matt Reeves has explained, Bruce Wayne's Batman during his outings as the Dark Knight is more concerned with beating the living daylights out of criminals rather than delivering justice, comparing his nightly escapades as more of a high than anything else.
The movie is oriented towards a more neo noir action direction than just straight up action as it follows a different take on the story of the Caped Crusader, exploring the detective aspect of Batman more than just his stance as a fighter as well as exploring the origins of his rogues gallery more than the typical Batman story of showing how his parents deaths drove him to become Gotham's winged messenger of vengeance.
Starring Robert Pattionson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Paul Dano as Edward Nigma/The Riddler, Colin Ferrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon of the GCPD, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone and Peter Sarsgaard as District Attorney Gil Colson.
The movie is scheduled to release on March 4. (UNI)
