Accused in firing outside Salman Khan's house case wants to turn approver

Mumbai: A person facing MCOCA charges in connection with the firing outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's residence in Bandra suburbs here has expressed his desire to turn approver in the case, sources in the Mumbai Crime Branch said.   Without disclosing the identity of the accused, the sources said that one of those arrested in the April 14 shooting case and facing charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) has express his desire to be an approver and necessary procedure prescribed under the law has been set into motion.   As per procedure, the probe agency will first record the accused's confession before a high ranking officer not part of the ongoing investigation, and later the same will be recorded before a magistrate, the sources added.   The confessional statement will be the part of evidence and it will be used against him as well as other accused facing charges, they said.   On Monday, three accused arrested in the case were sent

Mirzapur actor Pankaj Tripathi's brother-in-law dies in road accident, sister sustains serious injuries

Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi's brother-in-law Rakesh Tiwari passed away in a road accident in Jharkhand's Dhanbad. Meanwhile, her sister, Sabita Tiwari, sustained serious injuries in the incident.   According to a police, Rakesh Tiwari and his wife Sarita Tiwari were traveling from Kamalpur in Gopalganj, Bihar, to Chittaranjan, West Bengal. Netflix adds 9.3 million new subscribers, beats expectations

Netflix's first quarter report for 2024 exceeded expectations, as it reported 9.3 million new subscribers and profits of roughly $2.3 billion (around €2.2 billion).    The Silicon Valley streaming company now boasts 269.6 million subscribers in all. North America, with some 83 million, is its biggest market.   "With more than two people per household on average, we have an audience of over half a billion people," Netflix said in a letter to investors. ED attaches properties worth Rs. 98 crore of Shilpa Shetty & Raj Kundra under PMLA

Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday attached the properties of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband Ripu Sudan Kundra, alias Raj Kundra.   In a statement, the agency announced its decision to provisionally attach immovable and movable properties belonging to Ripu Sudan Kundra, also known as Raj Kundra, under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.   The statement read, "ED, Mumbai has provisionally attached immovable and movable properties worth Rs. 97.79 crore belonging to Ripu Sudan Kundra, aka Raj Kundra, under the provisions of PMLA, 2002. The attached properties include residential flat situated in Juhu presently in the name of Smt. Shilpa Shetty, a residential bungalow situated in Pune, and equity shares in the name of Raj Kundra."   Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Police along with 11 others in July 2021 for allegedly making pornographic films and uploading them onto certain apps for circulation.

Sarabjit Singh’s killer shot dead by gunmen in Pakistan; Randeep Hooda calls it 'Karma'

Amir Sarfaraz Tamba, an accused in the murder of Indian death row prisoner in Pakistan Sarabjit Singh and a close associate of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Sayeed, was killed by unidentified gunmen in Lahore on Sunday.   Tamba was attacked by motorcycle-borne assailants in the Islampura area of Lahore in Pakistan and was rushed in critical condition to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, reports said.   Reacting on the news, actor Randeep Hooda hailed the death of Tamba and called it 'Karma'.   Hooda on the X platform wrote, "KARMA. Maharashtra: Firing near Salman Khan's house, probe handed over to Crime Branch

Mumbai: Hours after reported firing incident outside Bollywood megastar Salman Khan's Bandra home, the probe into the incident has been handed over to city Crime Branch and various teams have been formed to investigate this case, officials said on Sunday.   "We are probing this matter from different angles and one of suspected angle is alleged involvement of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, as actor is under threat from certain Punjab-based mafia groups and in the past couple of years he and his father Salim Khan have been issued death threats in different ways, including dropping of a letter to the family, officials added.   Early this morning at around 0500 hours, two unknown persons sporting helmets came speeding on a motorcycle and fired at least four shots in the direction of Salman Khan's home, before zooming off on the dark and deserted road.   The police are scanning the close circuit TV camera footage in area to trace out the shooters, check their motives and targets

Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's brother Anmol Bishnoi has allegedly taken responsibility for the firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence in Bandra on Sunday.   A purported social media post by Anmol - who is also accused in the murder of Punjabi singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moosewala - called the firing only a "trailer" while issuing a warning to the actor. "We want peace. If the only decision against oppression is war, then so be it. Salman Khan, we have only shown you a trailer so that you understand the magnitude of our strength and do not test it. This is the first and last warning. After this, shots will not be fired outside the house only. And we have dogs named after Dawood Ibrahim and Chota Shakeel, whom you consider to be Gods.
